The Los Monteros area is about 15 minutes driving from the centre of Marbella. In this vast area, there are both seaside and mountainside developments separated by the coastal motorway. Los Monteros is considered to be the most exclusive neighbourhood of Marbella East. The area consists of the districts of La Reserva de Los Monteros (seaside), Bahia de Los Monteros, (seaside), Rio Real de Los Monteros (around the Rio Real gof) and Los Altos de Los Monteros (up in the hills). The prestigious area of Los Monteros received its name in the time the hunting grounds were used by Spanish aristocrats and other important individuals. When the banker Ignacio Coca founded the Los Monteros hotel in 1962 the surroundings consisted mainly of forests, marshes and dunes. Nowadays, the hotel is one of the most prestigious hotels on the sunny coast. It is associated with the Rio Real golf course about 3 kilometres from the hotel itself. Also worth noting is that the Hospital Costa del Sol is right off the Los Monteros exit and is well known as one of the area's highest quality health centres. The hospital overlooks Santa Clara golf course and luxury urbanisation. Los Monteros is about 10 minutes from the English International College, which serves children at both primary and secondary levels.
Shops
Residents of Los Monteros have the choice of the two neighbouring commercial centres. The attractive commercial centre of Elviria is reachable in 5 minutes with its two supermarkets, pharmacy, doctor post, several banks and nice bars and restaurants. In 3 minutes you can have access to the commercial centre of El Rosario that includes a supermarket, bakery, newsstand and tennis club.
Drive in less than 10 minutes to the commercial park of La Cañada. This Shopping Centre is one of the best shopping centres on the Costa del Sol. Next to a huge arsenal of more than hundred shops, it also has hairdressers, restaurants, Alcampo Supermarket, bowling centre, arcade hall, cinema and a state of art gymnasium.

The Golf courses of Rio Real and Santa Clara are accessible within 5 minutes by car and the course of Cabopino and Santa Maria only need the double amount of time. All course are 18 holes golf courses.
